If you’re looking for a way to restore your body and mind at the end of a busy week and month, Friday night restorative Yin Yoga might be just what you need.
What is Yin Yoga?
In todays busy Western world we tend to feel overwhelmed by constant activity, whether this be responding to emails and texts or hopping in the car or on the train, always with a purpose of reaching a destination. In life there is yin aspect and a yang aspect. Today, the yoga of the West can generally be categorized as yang yoga: Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar, all of which are dynamic and active practices that very beneficial to our general health and wellbeing, however by practicing these types of yoga we are only experiencing half of the benefits available to us through yoga. This is where Yin Yoga comes in. Yin yoga allows us to work the deeper “yin” tissues of our ligaments, joints and even our bones. Yin is a slower practice than what you may have experienced as yoga before, this is not to say it is not challenging as poses may be held for much longer periods of time. Yin yoga is a great way to take care of and lubricate our joints; areas that we may not give much time to with a busy active lifestyle.
Yin is the perfect way to awaken and restore your joints in a safe environment, whether you are new to yoga or have a regular practice. Once a month Kylie’s Yin inspired sessions will give you the space to equalize your yin and yang energies and begin your month feeling balanced and restored.
Tea and cake will of course be available as part of this monthly experience.
